BUSINESS VISA – VITEM II

Who is eligible:

• travelers in business trips, except in case of technical assistance;
• media coverage or filming;
• flight/ship crewmembers not holding an international crew card.

Business visa holders are not allowed to engage in any activity under employment contract with a Brazilian organization/corporation.
Individuals involved in installation, service and/or repair of equipment in Brazil do not qualify for a business visa. They require a Temporary Visa V.

In order to qualify for such a visa, the applicant must not receive payment from a Brazilian source.

Requirements:

• one Visa Application Form, filled out, dated and signed by the applicant;

• a passport valid for a minimum of (6) six months from the date of intended arrival in Brazil, with at least two blank pages available;
• 1 (one) recent 5 x 7cm passport-photo, front view, white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;
• original letter (on company’s letterhead) stating employee’s name and title, contact in Brazil, description of the job to be conducted in Brazil, assuring the employee will not perform any technical work nor will be paid in Brazil, how long the employee has been working for the company, and assuming full responsibility for the applicant while in Brazil;
• if the applicant is self-employed, an additional letter will be required from his/her bank, containing financial references;
• a copy of the Japan Alien Resident Card for foreign residents ( Gaikokujin Touroku-Shomeisho ) and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to Japan or to another country;
• for filming or documentary it is required a special authorization of ANCINE"Agencia Nacional do Cinema", to be obtained directly by a Brazilian partner;

the Consulate may request additional information/documentation as deemed necessary.

Consular fee:

• ¥8.400 for the visa.
• an additional absent fee of  ¥1.400 will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant or by his/her immediate family.
• US passport holders must pay also a processing fee of  ¥18.200 in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the US.

Note that:

• The Consulate General of Brazil in Tokyo does not process same day visas (no rush fee!). The processing time is up to 04 (four) working days. Please plan accordingly!
• THE CONSULATE DOES NOT HANDLE VISAS BY MAIL!

• visas are good for multiple entries and must be used within 90 days from date of issue;
• all business visa holders, regardless of nationality or the length of time that the visa is given for, may only stay in Brazil for up to 90 days. An extension may be issued by the Federal Police, yet it will not exceed 180 days.
• the validity of the visa begins on the date of the first entry in Brazil.
